We The People Are Powerful: A Visual Guide to Understanding your Civic Liberties is a resource for citizens, helping them become more actively engaged within their local communities. It provides accessible explanations of the U.S. government's structure and responsibilities, and our relationship to it.

While the book was created to serve the greater Portland area, the website is a growing resource, useful to anyone, regardless of city or state.

This book was the first release from the Scout Books Equity Alliance.

Organization Story:

“I reached out to Visible to help pair me with designers who could help bring my project, We The People Are Powerful, a book dedicated to understanding civil liberties into a digital format. They paired me with OOF, a creative studio in Portland, OR. From the very beginning they were flexible and creative, as we brainstormed ideas to stay to true to the original format. I was always excited to receive updates from Savannah showing the progress they had made and ideas for the next phases of the project. Not knowing how to build a website, Savannah always made me feel included in the building process by proposing multiple options and suggesting ideas we could incorporate. The final website is what I imagined when I envisioned a digital version of We The People Are Powerful, I'm excited and proud to have collaborated with OOF! "
